Producing a Cover Letter
This assignment will guide you through the process of creating a cover letter to go with your resume. The cover letter serves as an introduction to the resume with the end result of you being contacted for an interview.
When applying for a job a cover letter should be always be sent with your resume. Your cover letter should be specific to the position you are applying for, relating your skills and experience to those noted in the job posting. Your cover letter is your first (and best) chance to make a good impression.
If you are applying for a job that was online, in a newspaper, you heard on the radio or if you just want to send in a resume to a company a cover letter is most important. First of all it tells the employer which job you are applying for and why you should be called for an interview. The cover letter has a relatively standard format. You can view an article on how to sell yourself with a cover letter.
For more complicated examples you can search the Web.
For your co-op placement it is suggested that you begin by creating a WORD file, using the PDF file as an example, and simply answer the questions in the same paragraph format.
