Dear Parents/Guardians,
As you are aware, a partial withdrawal of services by members of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 4168 began today in our schools. These labour sanctions are part of a provincial legal strike action by CUPE education workers against Ontario school boards. At St. Clair Catholic, CUPE represents a number of education workers, including secretaries, custodians, educational assistants, early childhood educators, and library and computer technicians.
These labour sanctions will affect some of our school operations. For the immediate future, please be advised that there may be delays in answering the front door buzzer. When visiting the school, please press the button and someone will be with you shortly. Other changes to school routines and operations will be communicated by your principal.
It is important to note that schools remain open and instructional programs continue to run. During these unusual times in our schools, we are working to maintain a caring and positive school environment. As always, student safety and learning continue to be the top priorities of all St. Clair Catholic staff. Our superintendents are in daily contact with schools to assess any concerns.
Throughout this uncertain period, St. Clair Catholic is committed to maintaining student safety. It is our priority to operate schools in a safe environment for all students and staff, according to a routine that is as close to normal as possible.
