Daniela Mezzatesta, Principal
The staff welcomes with open arms all students and families to St. Anne Catholic School. The staff strives to ensure that every student receives an education that is based on current and promising teaching practices in an environment that is positive, safe, and nurturing. We endeavour to provide rich opportunities for students to deepen their understanding of concepts and enhance their appreciation of thinking tools, processes and strategies. In this world where information changes at rapid speed, it is not enough, however, to understand concepts and principles and to solve that one problem, as challenging as it might be. The essential outcome is to develop and expand the dispositions of skillful problem solvers who can apply their learnings to an ever-expanding array of challenges not only in commonly taught subjects in school, but also in their communities, in their world, and in their lives.
As a Catholic School, our goals go well beyond the academics. We cherish the opportunity to help cultivate each student’s God-given gifts and talents in all areas, including academic, social-emotional, spiritual, artistic, and athletic. The staff works closely with students, parents, our Catholic School Advisory Council, parish partners at Sacred Heart and St. Michael’s Churches, and the greater community to help our students to grow through love and example. By example, we continue to teach our students to be empathetic, caring and compassionate. We are very proud to be a great part of community outreach. We want to show our students how even little contributions can make a difference. By doing so, we help more than those we intend. Charitable involvement has been shown to help raise self-esteem and mental well-being, develop social skills, encourage empathy with which children are naturally born, foster an introduction to the greater world and encourage children to appreciate their own lifestyle. We give students many opportunities to give back to our school, our community and the world.
Through lessons rooted in Gospel values and opportunities to serve each other and those in our community, we hope our whole school community lives out the virtues in an empathetic and caring way as our children grow spiritually, morally and ethically.
We encourage families to be involved in their child’s education. Our School Advisory Council is a hardworking and supportive group of people who have all the students’ best interests in mind. I pray for all of our staff, students and families as we gather as a community of believers. May this year bring us enthusiasm and love so that with the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, our school community may continue to grow in faith.
