KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION

If your child will be age four on or before December 31, 2017, then they are ready for Junior Kindergarten! Registration for Year 1 and year 2 kindergarten takes place during the month of February at all of our Catholic Board elementary schools with a specific kinderSTARt day at each school.

Registrations will also be accepted anytime during the regular school year if you happen to miss the kinderSTARt event.  Please visit your local Catholic School to register.

ADMISSIONS

Standard Admission Criteria:

The parent/guardian must provide the following ORIGINAL documents for each child to be considered for admission:

  • Roman Catholic Baptismal certificate for at least one parent
  • Proof of Status in Canada
  • Proof of Residency
  • Proof of child's age
  • Proof of English Separate School Support (property tax bill or completed and signed school support forms.

POLICY STATEMENT:
The St. Clair Catholic District School Board will admit to its schools:

a) children of parents who are baptized Roman Catholic or members of a church that is in union with the See of Rome (click for list), who reside within the jurisdiction of the Board and direct their school support to the Board

b) on a temporary basis, for one school year, students who are children of catechumens\candidates for admission.

It is the responsibility of the parent or guardian to submit evidence that the child has the right to attend a Catholic elementary school, including proof of age, parental baptism and direction of school support.

REGISTERING IN OUR ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS

Click the link to download and print our Elementary School Registration Form . Note that the form must be printed on legal size paper (8 1/2 x 14). The Adobe PDF form can be completed electronically, but cannot be saved to your home computer. Please print the completed form and bring it to your child's new school to begin the admissions process. Please note that there is also additional documentation (not available online) that must be completed at the time of registration.

NOTE: Every student must have a complete and up to date immunization record on file with the local Health Unit in order to attend school.  Immunization collection instructions from the Health Unit are included in the registration package.

Registrations that do not meet the standard admission criteria may be considered for admission under certain exemptions with prior approval.  Please contact the Manager - Planning & School Business Support Services for further information.

ADMISSIONS

VALUE STATEMENT:
The secondary schools of the St. Clair Catholic District School Board exist to provide excellence in Catholic secondary education for the students of Catholic, separate school supporters and others within the Municipality of Chatham-Kent and the County of Lambton who elect to attend. Students who reside outside of the Board jurisdiction may be considered for admission to a Catholic secondary school, upon application.

All Catholic property owners and tenants are encouraged to ensure that they are registered appropriately for the purposes of municipal elections and school board tax support.  Separate school support is also a requirement for admission to the St. Clair Catholic District School Board elementary schools.   Important information and forms to direct your school support can be found by clicking this link.

Immunization Information

Under the Immunization of School Pupils Act (ISPA),the parents/guardians of every child who attends school in Ontario must provide proof of up to date immunization records to their local health unit.  A schedule of childhood diseases: Diphtheria, Tetanus, Pertussis (Whooping Cough), Polio, Mumps, Measles, Rubella, Meningococcal diseases and for children born after January 1st 2010, Varicella (Chickenpox), are the designated diseases under ISPA, as set out by the Ministry of Health.  The local Medical Officer of Health is required by law to keep immunization records for every student.

Students who require an exemption from immunization for medical, religious or conscience reasons must obtain and complete appropriate documents with the Medical Officer of Health, before school entry.
