Student Biography

This assignment is a brief introduction of YOU to your co-op teacher.

Typically, this assignment can be done in three paragraphs. You should be able to fill about three-quarters of a page single spaced.

The first paragraph should be about your past. Introduce yourself to your teacher by talking about your family, your former schools, vacations, jobs that you have had, likes, dislikes, friends, music, hobbies, what teams or clubs you have been on, awards you have won either academically or from sports, classes taken at UCC and what you are doing now.

The second paragraph is an explanation of why you want to take co-op. Talk about which companies you want to work and the general area in which you want to work – health care, automotive, in a school, retail, apprenticeship and so on.

In the third paragraph explain WHY and HOW this co-op is relevant to your future goals. Talk about what you want to do for post-secondary education (college or university) or for an apprenticeship (see the http://www.oyap.com website. How does this co-op fit into those plans? Are you just trying out this career to see if you like it? What experience have you had before (such as I work at home fixing the car and I want to become a mechanic.)

You can also look into the opportunity of a dual credit with Lambton or St. Clair College – usually Thursday afternoons in at St. Clair College and usually Thursday or Friday mornings at Lambton College in Sarnia from this website: http://www.trycollege.ca
