Our School is Named after St. Joseph
Joseph was a good and kind man. When he was engaged to Mary and found out she was going to have a baby, he didn't know what to do. But an angel told him in a dream that the baby was God's Son. Joseph took Mary as his wife and took care of her and Jesus as long as he lived. He saved baby Jesus from King Herod's soldiers by taking his family to Egypt and living there until Herod died. Then the family settled in Mary's hometown of Nazareth, where Joseph worked as a carpenter. The Holy Family's household was a happy one.
How we honour St. Joseph On his feast day, March 19th, some parishes hold a "St. Joseph's Day Table." This is a potluck meal open to everyone, especially the poor. Another custom is burying a statue of St. Joseph in your yard if you want to sell your house. Other people wear a St. Joseph medal as a sign of unity in the family and in the church.
Prayer: St. Joseph, protect our family. Help us to have the kind of faith and trust in God that you had.
